Ionview neighbourhood is bordered to the north by the hydro transmission corridor, to the south by the CNR railway, to the east by Ranstone Gardens and to the west by Birchmount Road. Homes in Ionview were mainly built in the 1940s and 1950s during the post war booming. It is made up mainly of a working class population with 37 percent of the homes being owned. Ionview’s population estimates at 13,025. The homes are bungalows, and two storey semi-detach houses. Also available are high rise buildings which are mainly for rental purposes. The communities here are from Persian, Filipino and Chinese origins. The Chinese form the largest percentage followed by the Filipino.
Recreation green space in the neighbourhood includes the Eglinton Ravine Park, the Ionview Park, and Goodland Community Park towards the north. More than 60 percent of the population resides in rented houses which are mainly apartment towers.
Ionview is well served by the public transport of TTC buses that connect the various routes such as Eglinton to Kennedy station. Recreational areas in Ionview include the Ionview Park which is centrally located and the jack Goodland Community Park which is towards the north. There are several restaurants in the neighbourhood displaying various cuisines representative of the communities for example the China Delights restaurant, Gasa restaurant and Sister’s Restaurant and Banquets. There is a good representation of public schools in Ionview such as the Ionview Public School. Shopping can be done along the major roads and avenues. Public transportation is by the bus service which connects the roads and avenues in the neighbourhood and the City of Toronto.
