This is another neighbourhood in Scarborough in Toronto City, Canada. Clairlea is to the west of Scarborough and in the east part of Victoria Park Avenue. In the Northern part, is Eglinton Avenue while to the southern part is the Taylor-Massey Creek as well as the railway tracks. The area has affordable homes with easy access to the Don Valley Parkway. This area, Clairlea, was originally called Moffat’s Corners, and attracted a lot of visitors especially from Ireland. Urbanisation was achieved in the 1950s.
The people of Clairlea are mainly of Filipino origin and the local residents speak Tagalog. Various languages are spoken in the neighbourhood and the diversity also includes the religions that are practised here. To access the Don Valley parkway motorists do so via Eglinton Avenue.
The Clairlea community has four elementary schools, two public high schools, two libraries and Centennial Colleges. The University of Toronto can be accessed through Bloor-Danforth subway. Another university that is accessible by train is the Ryerson University.
The Danforth Road has several shopping shops, restaurants, stores such as the shoppers World located at Danforth and Victoria Park.
For recreation, the Warden Woods Park is well packed. This is a ravine valley park that consists of forests, a creek and it stretches to the Don River. A golf course is also found here called the Dotonia Park Golf Course. The community is served with a gym, indoor pool, ice arena, tennis courts, and bocce club and soccer field inside the community recreation centre.
Homes in Clairlea were mostly constructed in the 50’s and they include bungalows and storey buildings. Apartments and condos are a newer version that is also rising in the area with general price ranging from low medium to medium.
